FIRST Robotics

Over the 4 seasons of FIRST Tech Challenge I participated in, I served as a mechanical engineer, integration lead, team lead, team captain, vice president, and ultimately, president of the club. Leading over 20 students in national and international competitions, my season as captain became the most successful in club history.

From initial drafting to CAD and manufacturing, mechanisms I helped develop includes a 4-axis manipulator arm, custom CNC impeller design, custom swerve drivetrain, custom whiffle ball launcher, mecanum drive-train, 4 foot tall linearly driven scissor lift, and more. Bringing these designs to life meant the use of an extensive suite of machine tools and the deep collaboration of large teams.

Currently, I serve as an advisor to the team as we expand our global outreach initiative to Botswana, Africa.

FTC #417 — Space Koalas In Disguise (SKID)

Over the 4 seasons of FIRST Tech Challenge I participated in, I served as a mechanical engineer, integration lead, team lead, team captain, vice president, and ultimately, president of the club. Leading over 20 students in national and international competitions, my season as captain became the most successful in club history. That is, until every year that has since past, something that I am by far more proud of.

From initial drafting to CAD and manufacturing, mechanisms I helped develop includes a 4-axis manipulator arm, custom CNC impeller design, custom swerve drivetrain, custom whiffle ball launcher, mecanum drive-train, 4 foot tall linearly driven scissor lift, and more. Extra Life

Thanks to this event, I'm now sure I'm just not engineered with the stamina required for a 24-hour gaming marathon, even if it were for charity and streamed live across the web.

Ironic, considering my friends and I were the ones who conceived, coordinated, and promoted the event in the first place. It simply never occurred to me, even while I feverishly exchanged emails with Microsoft on the logistics of the collaboration, talked with companies about sponsorship, and was asked of my tolerance for sleep deprivation during a live interview with the local news channel.

Nevertheless, the 24 hour marathon concluded with just over $5000 raised, all of which will go towards the children in need at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Awake or not, it was definitely a dream come true.
